At present, we keep your name, address, telephone number/s, email address and record of past OESS entries to enable us to email you our newsletter and to remind you of featured calls nearing their deadlines. We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure which is why it is stored in a secure password protected database that is only accessible by our authorised employees. We only share this data with the exhibition organisers when you enter an open call using the OESS system. We would love to stay connected and keep you up to date with our latest news and  open calls. 166 Annual Open Exhibition

The Royal West of England Academy holds an Annual Open Exhibition, now in its 166th year. As the name suggests, anyone can enter their work for this mixed discipline show - previous years have included painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, film, sculpture and illustration, and attracted entries from artists across the UK and beyond. A selection panel assesses every entry and last year 624 works by 421 artists made it into the final exhibition. All work is for sale and the exhibition attracts art-lovers and art-buyers from far and wide.

Tapestry Showcase 2018

The object of the showcase is to encourage the work of amateur and emerging weavers, and to give them a platform to exhibit and sell their work in a venue of national prestige. The Tapestry Showcase is an exhibition of small scale tapestries by amateur and emerging artists held each year in The Scottish Cafe and Restaurant in the National Galleries of Scotland’s Weston Link overlooking Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh. The purpose of the showcase is to encourage the work of aspiring weavers, and to give them a platform to exhibit and sell their work in a venue of national prestige. One exhibitor will be chosen as the recipient of a £250 prize.

Cloud exhibitions are presented online and in digital format so we encourage projects and new bodies of work which include creative thinking using new digital technologies, social media, audio and the moving image, as well as the more traditional forms of visual arts such as drawing, painting, print, sculpture and photography.

New Makers and Designers: Apply to Hothouse 2019

Hothouse is a programme of creative and business development opportunities delivered over a 6 month period for talented makers at the start of their career. Since 2010 Hothouse has helped hundreds of makers to identify what they want from their career and how to achieve it. They have gone on to create installations for Selfridges, Burberry Makers House, exhibit at Design Miami Basel, Milan Design Week, London Fashion Week, win awards and commissions at the Eden Project, Aspex Plymouth and Nottingham Castle, and fulfil artistic residencies at the British Library amongst others. The Live Art Development Agency (LADA) are inviting proposals for four new works which respond to an archive of materials relating to seminal performance art events from the 1980s, including EDGE 88, one of London’s first site-specific performance/installation festivals. The commissions will be presented online and featured as part of an event in London in December 2018. The project is led by Helena Goldwater, Rob La Frenais and Live Art Development Agency in partnership with Artsadmin and Central Saint Martins. Supported by Arts Council England and Art Fund. Public Art Commission - Perth City Centre

Perth and Kinross Council and its partner Culture Perth and Kinross wish to commission a major new public artwork which reflects the ambitions of the City Development Plan and Lighting Strategy which aims to significantly enhance feature and decorative lighting to grow the city’s evening and night time economy. The commission will see the creation of a large mural with integrated lighting features sited on a prominent building in a main city centre thoroughfare. Bold and imaginative submissions from professional artists are sought by 21 September 2018.
